We’re Hiring an RVN: Join Our Friendly Mobile Vet Team in Wigan

Featured

Home Visit Pet Care Wigan is looking for a kind, capable and confident Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our fast-growing mobile practice.

This is not your typical nurse role.

We don’t do busy waiting rooms, rushed appointments or back-to-back ops. Instead, we offer unhurried, one-to-one care for pets and their people - in the comfort of their own homes. Our model gives nurses the chance to use their skills more fully, make genuine connections with clients, and work in a way that’s calmer, kinder and more rewarding.

We’re a small team with a big mission: to transform the way veterinary care is delivered in the UK. Our Wigan branch is growing fast, and we’re now looking for the right nurse to grow with us.

🩺 What the Role Involves

This is a mobile nursing role, covering the WN postcode area. Our base is in WN5, but your day will be on the road - with support from our practice systems and a laptop provided.

Each day is different. You might be assisting the vet on house visits one day, and the next, running solo nurse consults or delivering meds. You’ll have the time and freedom to do things properly - without the pressure of a high-volume clinic.

Some days, you’ll be working alongside a vet or fellow nurse. Other shifts will be solo, seeing follow-ups and scheduled appointments for things like post-op checks, second vaccinations, and Emmi-pet cleans.

This is a role for someone who enjoys autonomy, variety and client connection.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Driving to appointments across the Wigan area (WN postcode)
  • Assisting the vet on home visits (1–2 days/week approx)
  • Solo nurse clinics on the road (1–1.5 days/week approx)
    • Nail clipping
    • Anal gland expressions
    • Microchipping
    • Puppy and kitten weight checks
    • Emmi-pet dental cleaning
    • Blood sampling
    • Second vaccinations
  • Pricing services and taking payments from clients
  • Medication deliveries and supply runs (including to the crematorium)
  • Optional extras: pet visits and holiday care in clients’ homes

🌱 What We Offer

  • Competitive salary, plus mileage
  • Flexible hours: weekday shifts (9am–5pm) and Saturday mornings (9am–2pm)
  • Generous paid holiday, plus bank holidays
  • Laptop provided
  • A varied and rewarding working day - no two shifts are the same
  • A genuine alternative to corporate vet nursing
  • Full support and mentorship from a passionate, close-knit team
  • Opportunity to build client relationships in a meaningful, long-term way
  • SQP training provided if you don’t already have it

And this is just the start.

Home Visit Pet Care Wigan is growing rapidly. For the right candidate, there is scope to expand hours and responsibilities quickly - and be part of something new, exciting and genuinely different in the veterinary world.

If you're a nurse who’s ready to leave the clinic treadmill behind and rediscover why you joined this profession in the first place - we’d love to hear from you.
