Are you a vet looking to step away from the pressure cooker of clinic life? Want to do meaningful, impactful work without the chaos of theatre lists, on-call rotas, or conveyor-belt consultations? We’re offering something completely different - and incredibly rewarding.
Home Visit Pet Care Wigan is a small, independent, RVN-led mobile practice with a mission: to bring high-quality, personalised veterinary care directly into people’s homes. We don’t do surgeries or emergencies. Instead, we focus on what we do best - preventative and diagnostic care, delivered calmly and compassionately, with time to truly connect with patients and clients.
You’ll work closely alongside Louise, our practice owner (RVN), visiting clients in their own homes and providing care in a setting that’s more relaxed for everyone - especially the pets. We often reach animals who wouldn’t otherwise get care: elderly pets whose owners can’t drive, anxious animals who don’t cope in clinics, or clients with complex personal circumstances. You’ll be making a tangible difference.
Yes, we work hard - but it’s a gentler kind of pressure. There’s no waiting room chaos, no double-booked consults, and no chasing your tail. Just meaningful work, with more control over your day, and the chance to build real relationships with the people you help.
If you’re craving variety, autonomy, and the space to do your job well - this could be exactly what you’re looking for.
We are a small but fast-growing team, proudly independent and completely free of corporate nonsense. You’ll be joining a practice that genuinely values its people and prioritises wellbeing as much as clinical standards.

• Deliver peaceful, compassionate euthanasia services in the comfort of the client’s home.
• Work from home for a few hours each week to review results, contact clients, and manage follow-ups.
• Help shape ongoing client care by assisting with communications, notes, and support queries.
No day is 'typical', but to give an example of what it might look like ... starting in the morning with a check-in at our Wigan base, where you'll meet your RVN partner, grab your kit (and a coffee), and review the day's visits. Then it’s off on your rounds - visiting pets in their homes, from lively puppies to senior cats, providing everything from vaccinations and health checks to mobile ultrasounds and gentle end-of-life care.
Requirements:
• Qualified Veterinarian with current RCVS registration.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to clients' homes.
• Experience with routine veterinary care and a strong interest in mobile services.
• Excellent communication skills and a friendly, professional demeanour.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Flexibility to work approximately 20 hours per week, with occasional Saturday mornings.
• Comfort with a developing role that may change and grow over time.
Above all else, we’re looking for the right attitude. Skills can be taught, but kindness, empathy, and a willingness to muck in with a small team - that’s what really matters here.
Benefits:
• Competitive hourly rate.
• Payment of RCVS and VDS fees.
• Opportunity to work in a flexible, supportive environment.
• Variety in daily work and the chance to build strong client relationships (more time with patients and clients).
• Support in professional development
• Be part of a small, adaptable team where your ideas and contributions will shape the future of the practice.
